Domain Update

OK… so I think email is sorted, and the atlow.org domain is also sorted.

The atlow.net domain is still being worked on, but that includes a domain transfer and will take some extra time.

For those who were using www.atlow.net to get here – thats broken at the moment. You can get here any of the following ways:

blog.atlow.org

nikulai.livejournal.com

www.livejournal.com/~nikulai

And of course, there is the redirector at nikulai.diaryland.com

My eventual goal is to have www.atlow.net point to www.atlow.org and blog.atlow.net and blog.atlow.org both point here.

Why this exercise you ask? Several reasons…

  1. Previously mail that was sent to atlow.net went nowhere. Now, or at least once the domain transfer is comoplete, mail sent to anyone @atlow.net will get to the same address at atlow.org.
  2. I increased my domain hosting from 50MB to 4.8GB
  3. My domain now has its own photo gallery – updates coming soon
  4. I increased my bandwidth significantly.
  5. The hosting company that I have switched to just offers more services and support and only a slightly higher price.

And, the big reason – I needed something to get me playing with DNS, domain registration, etc. Just to tease the skills.

Wow. Just went to see if there were any comments to this and didn’t see it – and the looked and saw it was still waiting to be posted. Woop…

Things that make you go…

huh…

You fit in with:
Humanism

Your ideals mostly resemble that of a Humanist.  Although you do not have a lot of faith, you are devoted to making this world better, in the short time that you have to live.  Humanists do not generally believe in an afterlife, and therefore, are committed to making the world a better place for themselves and future generations.

0% scientific.
80% reason-oriented.

Switchin’ Hosts

OK, so I am switching domain hosts…

So, if you see if you see any funky-ness with web sites, emails, etc. over the next few days to a week, hang in there – I’ll get it sorted.

Thanks for your patience.

Huh

UPDATED…

A co-worker sent me this link. Not sure why he thought I would be interested.

Personally, I think there are things about other people’s cultures that you just do NOT need to know.

grrr… hit post by accident… grr..

So, its old homecoming week in my world…

Get  call from some old friends from college who I haven’t seen in years – turns out they are driving through. Got to go to dinner with them.

Then I get a random email from an ex. It really made me smile. Ted’s a great guy and Im glad to hear that things are going well for him and that he is happy. I need to write him back, but I just have not had the desire to sit in front of a computer when I have gotten home.

Then, after fleeing the euphemism portion of ’s bachelor party, I headed to the clubs. Was hanging out in CCs enjoying the sites and chatting with some people but was tired so decided to go on home. Im heading to the door and I get a big bear hug from behind and hear a familiar voice saying ‘Well hello’ – It was Jon, Keith’s best friend. Had not seen him in a few years so we spent a few minutes catching up. He seems really happy and like his life is on a good course. I am very happy for him – he is also a great guy and deserves the best.

If anyone mentions network printers to you, run. Trust me. Just run.

So, Dug has been gone a week and a half now. In some ways its kewl to have the place to myself, but in other ways it really sucks. I do miss him.

Last night, however, at 4:30am, Aces decided that he had been gone long enough, and that since I had failed to produce him, I must pay by being denied sleep. She is luck she is cute and sweet most of the time.

Does anyone know anything about small office phone systems?

Did a lot of work on the fish tanks over the past few days – vacuumed the gravel, moved some of the decorations around, added some new fish, etc.

Its odd – the Ph on both tanks is very low – and it doesn’t seem to want to buffer up. The fish dont seem to mind though. And everything else tests normal. And yes, I have tried two different test kits to make sure its not just the test kit giving false readings.

The KASF bid is stalled – site problems. Mainly the site doesn’t seem to want to call me back. I have tagged to drive by the site during the day – if they wont call, we can go to their door step – though it does make me nervous about doping business with them.

The other site where I have us penciled in is nice but expensive – too expensive to justify in my mind.

So, with the help of the glorious people of K’berg I am looking for a new site.

Im trying to think of anything else exciting thats going on, and well, Im failing miserably. Thats probably a clue that its time to sign off for now.

Grrr….

I hates me some stupid people…

First, listening to the BBC (AKA the beeb), and they are reporting from a earthquake ravaged Kashmir. They are at an aid station where they are preparing 1200 meals a day for people who are now homeless. The aid worked starts to tell the reporter that just yesterday a Mullah came down and was yelling at them for preparing food during daylight hours during the fast of Ramadan.

WTF?!?! You want to starve to death – go for it. Done force others to starve due to your religious beliefs.

Then the reporter talks to some local authority on Islam who explains that there is no exception for the fast.

OK, I am no expert in Islam (nor in any religion for that matter), but no exception? Your telling me that the sick, elderly, infirm, etc. do not have an exemption? Wow. I am just incapable of fathoming. I fervently hope that this is a rather extreme view or that I misunderstood. Yeesh.

Then, there was the broken down car & the cop on my way in this morning. Three lane one way road. Car broken down at an intersection in the far left lane (which is a turn lane into another one way road). A cop is parked not behind him, but in the middle lane! Yup. The cop, for no reason whatsoever is adding to the traffic backup.

I have a vendor due in in half an hour – hope they dont have to give me bad news. I wont take it very well.
