Well, I haven’t updated in a while…

Today is not quite Dad’s birthday. Tomorrow will be just after. So, happy non-leap year birthday, Dad!

For those who have not seen them, the Hubble has some amazing new photos – more detailed then ever before. And people think space exploration is a waste of tax dollars. Fools.

For all you classic rock fans, check out Wolfgang’s Vault. Wolfgang was Bill Graham’s real name – he changed it when he came to the US to escape the Nazis. Bill Graham became the concert promoter from the SF bay area from the mid 60s until his death in a helicopter crash in 1991.

The site’s founder had bought essentially all of Graham’s estate and among the boxes of old concert T-Shirts, ticket stubs, etc found recordings of thousands of the concerts Graham had promoted. He has been slowly securing broadcast rights and is now streaming audio of clips from those concerts. You can hear live recordings of everything from B King in 1968 to Boz Scaggs in 74 to Led Zeppelin in 69 to … well, check out the site and you will see. Its a classic rock fan’s wet dream.

Why would someone with a  green light who is making a right turn go 1/3 of the way into the intersection and stop? And I dont mean quick tap of the breaks to check that no one is coming but full on stop for several minutes. Grrrr…. hate people.

Met a guy named Adam – been spending a fair bit of time with him. He’s sweet and nice and I like him a lot. We shall see where it goes.

Otherwise, just truckin on… like a doo dah man ;)

You Are 50% Evil

You are evil, but you haven’t yet mastered the dark side.
Fear not though – you are on your way to world domination.

“It might be a nice change,” said one Senate aide, who asked to remain anonymous. “Instead of looking at my BlackBerry the first thing in the morning, I might actually be able to take a shower without work on my mind.”

As a happy thought on this Valentine’s day, I remind everyone that St Valentine was beheaded the day after he sent his infamous love note.

Happy Valentines!

OK, for the record…

I am NOT – repeat NOT – responsible for the weather this past weekend.

I have been very fortunate in the events I have autocratted have had good weather – or at least everyone perceives them as having good weather. I recall Cuan ending Court early at the second Ymir I ran due to the cold.

So, no, I do not have a direct line to the weather gods… Greg Fishell does not call me nightly before broadcasting his forecast.

None! No control! Its a vicious rumor.

For everyone who complimented, inspected, pawed at, etc. my coat – that is thanks to Mistress Genvieve.

Heralding was stressful, but fun. Got my third, fourth, and fifth courts done in one event. ;) I dont think I made too many screw ups – tried to make sure I had everyone’s name right, and that i was mostly intelligible. And tried way hard to project. Fortunately, the voice lessons from when I was a kid payed off. (No, not to learn to sing, but because I had vocal nodes.)

I am also very happy for Ysolt, and honored that i got to partake in some little way.

And, I owe a BIG debt of gratitude to & . Thank you guys for getting the pitcher, bowl, and towel where they needed to be.

So, Friday at 12:30 the landlord forwards an email from the city that they will be shutting power down Sunday starting at 6am and running through to 9:30am. I forward it on to my clients apologizing for the short notice and asking them to shut their stuff down before they leave for the weekend. I did not, however, realize that, based on the number of nasty-grams I received, I in fact knew about this power outage for the past nine months and had been hiding it from everyone just to screw up their weekend. Cause, ya know having to shut down a ton of servers, switches, etc. etc. etc. when I had to be somewhere was in my plan all along.

Silly me.

Sunday – slept for like 10 hours. Never even made it out of my clothes from Saturday (I had changed at into jeans and a shirt. Slept in them on top of the covers. And slept soundly. Dug must have come in and put my glasses somewhere safe, shut the lights and the door, but I have no recollection.

Wish I could have done that again today.

This morning, ah yes this morning.

Well, gee, why can’t I get into the parking deck? The building? The elevators? Seems like I have been purged from the landlord’s system. Not just disabled, but completely removed. Vanquished. Of course, they cannot add me back without proper authorization from my company. Which, it turns out, are the ones who sent the request to the landlord to have me deleted in the first place.

I asked my director if he had something to tell me. He said yeah, and handed me a garbage bag for my stuff. I like working for someone with a sense of humor. At least, I hope he was joking. Cause having worked all day for nothing would really piss me off. ;)

Well, it only took until 1:30 but everything is – I hope – back up. No, wait, just as I typed it, and I mean just… ‘we have a problem’.

Ah, yes … WINS works so much better when the server is actually powered on…

Did I mention the HVAC system is fritzing again? 54 degrees Fahrenheit in the lab. And about 64 degrees in the office. Brrrrr……

Anyway, enough procrastinating by doing this – gonna go find another method of procrastinating.

Your Job Dissatisfaction Level is 57%

Well, you don’t have the worst job in the world, but it’s not great.
And don’t worry, you’re not the problem – your company is.
Start looking around for another job, even if you’re not totally fed up.
Because in time, you’re going to be dying to quit!
