Yet this defense raises the question of why Ted Kennedy never thought to run for president on the slogan “He Never Took a Drink In His Life,” and then, when challenged, point out that other members of his family are less sober than he.

Its interesting what you find when you do a Google image seach ofr “Windmasters Hill”
Just saying….
This is here mostly for my own thoughts etc to get them down on paper. I would appreciate any feedback / comments if you wish…
So, I have my own domain (atlow.org) – technically two domains as atlow.net mirrors the main domain. Currently the domain hosts a display of my awesome HTML talent (not…), a link to my lj, my Gallery 2 photo gallery, HTML exports of my movie- book- and music- collectorz indexes, a link to my Amazon wish list, a crappy guestbook, and my links pages – one being a crpappy HTML list of links, and two others using o”Bookmarks
In addition, I host and am responsible for a few other sites:
- autocrat.atlow.org – a wiki and forum for autcrats that Ive done little to maintain or publicize
- reluctantapple.com – a holding page for
’s on line portfolio - gotvice.org – the web page for the doomed overly ambitious vice themed event
- jeffnancy.net –
& Jeff’s domain
Mostly I just use my domain for the email. Given that, and that things are working overall, why touch it? Well, cause my web page overall looks like crap. And honestly, I need something to keep me surfing places I shouldnt.
With all of that background out of the way, here is what I am considering:
Switching the email from the hosted email to gmail for domains.
pros – its gmail, ’nuff said
cons – potential loss of email during the switchover, need to reconfigure my blacberry to the new mail server etc.
action plan – just need to get off my ass and do it.
Implementing CMS. I have played around a bit and know that if I am going to do this, then it will be Drupal.
Pros:
- highly configurable
- lots of plugins and themes
- can manage multiple sites with a single Drupal code base install
- has full gallery 2 integration
- has a LJ plug-in which allows post to both (I suspect
is doing something similar with House de la Flamme though I suspect he’s using Word Press or something similar.
Cons –
- Havent really found the theme I want yet and dont want to learn enough PHP and CSS to do my own custom theme.
- Its a major redo of everything and will mean taking atlow.org down for some time until I get it sorted.
- Not sure I want to continue using Gallery2 – might follow
’s lead and switch to ZenPhoto. - Dont feel like porting my links over a third time.
Action Plan – A lot more mulling things over.
There is also a part of me that wonders what do I need a web page and domain for. Lets take a look…
- Blog – currently use LJ and thats where my friends are making the viewing of their blogs very convenient.
- Pictures – Gallery2 is working, plus I could always shift to flickr or any of the other free hosting sites
- Links – ol’bookmarks is working or I could switch and use google bookmarks – I dont like del.iscio.us
- eMail – already planning to switch it to gmail, why do I need my own domain?
Ah, paralyzed by indecission….
